New wave band Tom Tom Club’s ‘Genius of Love‘ was featured on the first episode of the new ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life‘ — “Winter“. It was played when Lorelei turned on the music that annoyed Luke before she followed Rory into her room.
The track is from Tom Tom Club’s self-titled debut album released in 1981. When it was released as a single, it hit the top of the U.S. dance charts.
As for Tom Tom Club, they are husband and wife duo Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, and Tom Tom Club was a side project away from the pair’s usual music project, The Talking Heads. A side project that is still going strong 35 years after its founding.
Tom Tom Club now has six studio albums, two live albums and 13 singles out.
