Listeners anime series first trailer reveals cast and hints of a rockin’ soundtrack

The first trailer for upcoming new Listeners anime series has been released today.

It not only shows a huge voice actor cast list, but gives a pretty good indication of how well this anime will combine both rock music and anime.

Come on, just listen to that 30-seconds of music accompanying the trailer. You just know the soundtrack is going to be amazing.

As for the Listeners anime cast, it looks like this at the moment, with some of the biggest names in the Japanese voice acting business taking part:

It kicks off with the announcement of Rie Takahashi (Re: Zero), who will be starring as protagonist Myū.

Other voice actors involved in the project include Ayumu Murase (Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun), Kouichi Yamadera (Lupin III) Nana Mizuki, (Senki Zesshō Symphogear) Junichi Suwabe (Black Butler), Sayaka Ohara (Fairy Tail), Yoko Hikasa (Encouragement of Climb) Rie Kugimiya (Fairy Tail), Kana Hanazawa (Psycho-Pass), Taku Yashiro (Darwin’s Game), Yuto Uemura (Bungo Stray Dogs), and Jun Fukuyama (Bleach).

All of these voice actors have a massive number of performances in some of the most popular anime series ever created.

Listeners key visual

Listeners is an original anime and is being directed by Hiroaki Ando (Ajin) at animation studio MAPPA (Yuri !!! on Ice, Sarazanmai).

The studio’s blurb for the new anime series describes the story this way:

The great adolescent symphony is set in a world where nothing called music exists. A boy meets Myū, a mysterious girl with an empty audio input jack on her body. When she is plugged into an amp, something that will change the world is set in motion …. Thus begins a journey of sound that will never be forgotten.

No word yet, however, on when it will be released.

Until it is, keep up-to-date on more news from Listeners as it arrives on the anime’s website.
