I don’t know about you, but my Chinese drama loving heart can hardly take this summer, and it’s only just kicked off.

What with Liu Xue Yi currently starring in The Princess’s Gambit, and Liu Yu Ning the male lead in A Dream Within a Dream, I thought that was good enough for a stellar summer, only to wake up this morning to the news upcoming C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land has already exceed 2 million reservations.

And, with that kind of announcement, you know it’s only a matter of a short time before Love on the Turquoise Land drops as well.

Exciting as, with it starring Chen Xing Xu (alongside Dilraba Dilmurat), that’s three stellar dramas starring some of China’s best actors airing around the same time.

The announcement of Love on the Turquoise Land exceeding 2 million reservations was made earlier today along with a mysterious looking poster (above), and a comment from Tencent:

Hoot hoot.

Production details for Love on the Turquoise Land (枭起青壤)

The, what is tagged as a thriller, romance, fantasy, supernatural C-drama, is based on the novel “An Owl Rising from the Green Soil” (枭起青壤) written by Wei Yu (尾鱼).

It is directed by Tian Li (Debit Queen) who is chief director, and He Tan (Da Shi Jie Niu Dan Ji) who is co-directing.

The C-drama also has an excellent supporting cast that includes Zhang Li (A Moment But Forever), Zhang Yi Chi (The Seven Relics of Ill Omen), Tian Xiao Jie (Legend of Zang Hai) and Dong Chang (Adventure Behind the Bronze Door).

Its plot, via Douban, hasn’t been released in any depth, so this is what we have right now:

The writer Nie Xi was inspired by a “Shan Hai Jing” (Classic of Mountains and Seas)-themed exhibition and penned an urban fantasy novel brimming with Eastern aesthetics.

The story revolves around the covert folk supernatural organization “Nanshan Hunters,” where the reckless blade-wielding Nie Jiu Luo (played by Dilraba Dilmurat) crosses paths with the righteous and resilient Yan Tuo (played by Chen Xing Xu), who has endured years of hardship.

Initially clashing, they gradually build trust and affection through life-and-death collaborations. Together, they battle the subterranean menace “Di Xiao,” (aka shadow demons) in an effort to safeguard love and peace.

Look out for Love on the Turquoise Land‘s premiere date being announced soon as, my guess at least, is that it will likely drop before the middle of July.

Let’s see then, eh?
