Love Your Enemy Ep 7 earns highest Saturday night rating

Korean drama Love Your Enemy (aka 사랑은 외나무다리에서) was one of only three K-dramas airing last night, as The Fiery Priest 2, The Tale of Lady Ok, and Marry YOU took the night off due to another impeachment vote against South Korean president Yoon. (He lost).

A smart decision from tvN it seems, as the Korean romantic comedy earned its highest ever nationwide rating for a Saturday night.

That rating was 5.13 percent nationwide, versus 5.04 percent last Saturday.

Sure, that’s only a small increase, but still an increase nevertheless.

It is also the first rating the Korean drama earned for its second half, which hopefully means we could see even higher ratings from here.

Love Your Enemy falls in ratings in Seoul

In Seoul, however, Love Your Enemy, Episode 7 earned lower ratings than last Saturday with 5.09 percent compared to 5.60 percent on December 7th.

But, considering the South Korean National Assembly was voting to impeach President Yoon, and the capital city like any capital city worldwide is even more involved with politics than the rest of the country, that’s not too surprising.

Both ratings, though, are incredibly solid, as well as much higher than the K-drama earned for its first episode when it garnered just 3.48 percent nationwide and 4.00 percent in Seoul.

Love Your Enemy stars Ju Ji Hoon and Jung Yu Mi and, for me, has been one of the standouts of this K-drama season.

Not just for the excellent (and funny) performances of the leads, and the well-written script and fast-moving plot, but also because it features an older-than-normal couple. (Ju Ji Hoon is 42, while Jung Yu Mi is 41).

And, as someone who cannot really relate to teenagers or 20-somethings falling in love, it has been a lovely and very welcome change.
