Ukraine’s Eurovision 2014 featured the lovely Mariya Yaremchuk and the man on the hamster wheel
Sadly, due to political troubles and lack of money, Ukraine will not be competing in Eurovision 2015 in Vienna. Which is why I’m showcasing the Eurovision 2014 Ukrainian entry as today’s Eurovision Countdown 2015 segment.(26 days to Semi Final 1 and 30 days to the Grand Final).
It was, of course, ‘Tick-Tock‘ sung by the gorgeous Mariya Yaremchuk and, yes, it was the song that featured the man on the hamster wheel.
Quite a few Eurovision commentators at the time made fun of the ‘Tick-Tock‘ hamster wheel, and the song’s staging but, in my mind, at least it made people talk and that can only be a good thing.
Besides, I thought the staging and the wheel itself was unusual and kind of cool.
Yaremchuk’s performance as well was fierce, and the staging was simple but extremely effective. And, of course, you can’t fault that gorgeous dress.
Watch Mariya Yaremchuk singing ‘Tick-Tock‘ in the Eurovision 2014 grand final below. She ended up in 6th place overall, which was excellent to say that she ended up being the first act to sing at the Eurovision 2014 grand final — usually the death knell for most artists over the years.
