Actor Matt LeBlanc says he is amazed at how much attention he has been getting over the last few days since the BBC announced he would be one of the new ‘Top Gear’ hosts.
LeBlanc was on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show where he told his new co-host Chris Evans, “I knew ‘Top Gear‘ was a big show, but, wow, I was on the front page of the New York Times.”
Not surprising really, as LeBlanc will be the first non-British host in the show’s 39 year history, which is kind of a big deal for a lot of fans of the show.
Not that many people seem to have been complaining about an American host, as LeBlanc has been getting huge numbers of tweets congratulating him over the last couple of days.
LeBlanc himself also seems to be thrilled with his new show, as he has been a big car buff for most of his life, so ‘Top Gear‘ is perfect for him. And, on the subject of cars, he told Chris Evans his first car was a 1984 Nissan pickup truck. But what is his favorite car? A Porsche.
‘Top Gear’ will return to the BBC in May. Meanwhile you can listen to Matt LeBlanc talking to Chris Evans in the video below.
