Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved trailer of Kanna and her father drops

With the long-awaited anime film Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved finally dropping in Japanese movie theaters at the end of this month, you can expect a few cool promo materials to be released over the next few weeks.

The latest is a ‘Parent and Child Edition‘ trailer (watch below) that features the adorable Kanna and her father, Kimun Kamui. He is being voiced by Fumihiko Tachiki (Kenpachi Zaraki in Bleach).

The new A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved trailer left Japanese fans commenting he is “so cool” and “so handsome”.

While I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s handsome (well, at least, he’s not my type), I would say he seems to be quite strongly built. Especially in his dragon form. Right?

The latest Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid film trailer dropped via the anime’s X account yesterday, with a reminder the next trailer called “Battle Edition” will release later on today.

Look out for it.

The film, which is the latest in the slice-of-life Dragon Maid franchise, follows on from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S — the second season of the anime series, which ended in September, 2021.

So, yep, it has been a while since we got to see what Kobayashi and her friends are up to lately.

The upcoming anime film is being animated by the brilliant Kyoto Animation, and directed by Tatsuya Ishihara.

The late Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid director Yasuhiro Takemoto, who was one of the people murdered in the KyoAni arson attack in 2019 is also, nicely, listed as director on the film.

Writer Yuka Yamada is also back writing the screenplay, with Miku Kadowaki designing those fabulous characters again.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved premieres in Japanese movie theaters around the country on June 27th, 2025.

And no, there still hasn’t been an announcement about a global release for the anime film.

But my guess is it will likely drop via Crunchyroll when it does, as both seasons and the anime’s mini-anime season are still streaming there.
