The Kyoto Animation anime series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is still on my best anime of all time list even though I have seen more than 200 other series since its release.
Not just for the cute story, the adorable characters, the stunning animation and the many laughs, but also because the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid opening song is one of the catchiest, quirkiest and most awesome anime OPs ever released.
Sung by the high energy four-member Japanese pop band Fhána, the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid theme song’s official title is ‘Aozora no Rhapsody” (aka in Japanese —青空のラプソディor Aozora no Rapusodi).
The song kicks off every episode of the hit anime series with those unmistakable opening lyrics “Chu chu yeah!” that make you want to jump up and dance.
Then, when the animation kicks in and the awesome dancing from the show’s main characters actually does begin (see video below), if you have actually started dancing, don’t worry, you are definitely not in the minority.
The music for Fhána’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid opening song, aka ‘Aozora no Rhapsody’, is performed by Fhána and was written by Junichi Sato. Hideki Hayashi wrote the lyrics.
It is not the first anime theme song from Fhána either.
They also sang the ending song for The Eccentric Family, the opening theme for Gingitsune, the OP for Witch Craft Works, the OP for The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior, and the OP for the 2016 anime series Haruchika to name just a few of their anime songs.
Fhána also released an official music video for Miss Kobayashi’s ‘Aozora no Rhapsody’.
Just like the song, it is quirky, high energy and incredibly fun.
Watch it below.
