After an eight-year break, Modest Mouse finally has a new album out. Called Strangers To Ourselves, the album was released last week, which is why Modest Mouse was visiting CBS This Morning yesterday.
And not just a quick visit either. The band played several tracks from their new album – the lead single “Lampshades on Fire” as well as “Coyotes,” and “The Ground Walks, With Time in a Box”.
All three tracks are awesome so, no, while I can’t actually say it was worth the wait, as eight years without Modest Mouse is a long time, it is still great to see them back with songs that are this good.
I’m guessing it’s also not just me that’s this happy about Modest Mouse’s new album, particularly as Billboard is expecting ‘Strangers To Ourselves‘ to debut in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending today, it’s been selling so well.
Meanwhile, until that chart is released, listen to Modest Mouse singing ‘Coyotes‘, the one mellow track they sang on CBS This Morning below. Yep. An eight year absence, but they certainly haven’t lost it.
