More Mass Effect games will be released says BioWare
If you are one of the Mass Effect fans who are dying to get their hands on another game in the sci-fi series, you may have given up hope, seeing as how the last Mass Effect game was released early last year and there have been no signs of another one coming since.
But hope, apparently, is not lost as, in an interview with Eurogamer this week, BioWare’s Mike Gamble says the Mass Effect franchise still has a future. It’s just that the Canadian developer is concentrating on the upcoming multi-player Anthem right now.
Gamble added the same also holds true for the Dragon Age series, which is actually a step ahead of Mass Effect, as that game currently has a team working on the next one. But , either way, Anthem is the game BioWare is concentrating on at the moment.
“As much as we have various projects in the works and there’s a team working on Dragon Age stuff right now, and Mass Effect is certainly not dead, Anthem is different and we have to highlight those differences, of which co-operative play is a big difference”.
So, in other words, no, BioWare is not currently working on a new Mass Effect game. Will they be in the future? More than likely, it seems. But it will definitely not be happening until well after Anthem is released, which happens on 22nd February, 2019.
And don’t forget too, the last Mass Effect game, Mass Effect: Andromeda was not a fan favorite, with fans making fun of the character animations that were some of the worst we have seen in a major game in years.
The game also shipped with technical issues that took a number of patches apres-release to fix.
That being said, Mass Effect: Andromeda did not seem to put fans off buying the game or any other upcoming games in the series, as it sold over two million units within the first six months of it arriving on the market.
No wonder BioWare says more Mass Effect games will be released. They just need to figure out how to make them better.
