Motion Magic (aka 上海幻维数码创意科技有限公司; 上海幻维数码创意科技股份有限公司) is one of the longer-running Chinese animation studios, as it was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of Shanghai Oriental Media Group Co., Ltd. (SMG), one of China’s largest state-owned media and cultural conglomerates and a billion dollar company in its own right.
It employs over 600 people in various high-level positions, and runs the company with the motto “cherish your job and live your life; work closely to promote innovation”.
It is also one of the few Chinese animation studios that operates an English-language website to promote its intellectual properties.
On that website, the company describes its goals in this way:
Motion Magic is committed to promoting the combination and innovation of art and digital technology guided by the principle of creativity, quality, service and development.
As one of China’s leading digital entertainment content and service providers, Motion Magic is specialized in research and development of computer-graphics (CG) technology, creative design and integrated application.
With digital graphics and imaging technology at the core, we perfectly combine artistic presentation with technologic application and strive to expand the business of theme content, CG animation and IP content.
They have also established business relationships with British, French and Japanese companies, as well as companies in several other countries, that help Motion Magic deliver a variety of high-quality CG animated films and TV series.
The studio also prides itself on offering value for its staff, clients and the company itself by placing emphasis on the highest-quality production rather than animating the most IPs.
