Mrs. Green Apple singer Motoki Ohmori has sudden onset deafness – planned concerts still on schedule

Various Japanese news media are reporting Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple’s lead singer Motoki Ohmori has been diagnosed with sudden onset deafness in his left ear.

The band informed fans via their official website about the singer’s hearing loss, saying the singer had suddenly noticed he couldn’t hear properly out of his left ear on January 19th.

He immediately made an appointment with a doctor where he was diagnosed with a hearing problem.

Motoki Ohmori’s deafness will not affect any of Mrs. Green Apple’s upcoming concerts, however — at least not at the moment — as the band plans on performing all of their planned concerts, while making the necessary changes to accommodate Motoki’s likely-temporary disability.

They also apologized for any inconvenience to their fans, and thanked them for their support.

Upcoming concerts, of course, are in support of Mrs. Green Apple’s fifth studio album Antenna.

The album was released on July 4th, 2023, and subsequently went on to climb to #2 on three charts — the Oricon Albums chart, the Japanese Digital Albums chart and the Japanese Hot Albums chart.

It has also been certified Gold in Japan.

Meanwhile, with another single on its way out soon as the opening theme song for the upcoming anime Oblivion Battery, Mrs. Green Apple also released their most recent music video for their newest single ナハトムジーク」 or ‘Nacht Music‘ last week .
