Just in case you are wondering what Chinese anime to watch over the last couple of days of the Chinese Spring Festival 2025, YOUKU Animation has published a short video (watch below) recommending several choices — based, of course, on the donghua they are currently streaming on their platform.
Donghua to watch during Spring Festival 2025
The first must watch Chinese donghua during the Spring Festival 2025 is The Demon Hunter 2.
That ongoing animated series is currently streaming on their official platform, and follows on from the donghua’s first season — which you can also watch via YOUKU.
The fantasy martial arts donghua, tells the story of Meng Chuan, a young cultivator who is determined to “kill all the demons” after one of them kills his mother.
The donghua is one of the biggest hits of this season, with 10 episodes of Season 2 currently available to watch, and with fans complimenting its fast-paced action scenes, animation and art style
YOUKU Animation’s second choice is Big Brother — aka My Senior Brother is Too Steady — a donghua that follows Li Changshou, a reincarnated cultivator who prioritizes caution and survival above all else.
In a world filled with powerful immortals and deadly schemes, he uses his wit, meticulous planning, and hidden strength to navigate dangers while also maintaining a low profile.
However, his carefully laid plans are often disrupted by his unpredictable junior sister and the chaotic world of cultivation around him.

Next is The Great Journey of Teenagers, Season 4, the continuation of a long-running martial arts donghua which recently premiered on the Chinese streaming platform.
It follows a group of teenage young heroes — Lei Wujie, Xiao Se, Tang Lian, Sikong Qianluo, Heavenly Maiden Rui and others — as they navigate the treacherous world of martial arts and political intrigue, while struggling to protect their own sects (and sometimes not) and cultivating their own personal growth.

You can watch Seasons 2, 3 and 4 via YOUKU, while Season 1 is available via Bilibili Animation’s YouTube channel.
Another in the same franchise as The Great Journey of Teenagers, The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure, is also a recommended must watch during Spring Festival 2025 — on YOUKU.
One of the most recent donghua out on YOUKU’s streaming platform is the award-winning Cat God — a donghua comprising 10 short episodes directed by 10 highly-renowned Chinese directors, and one that is predominantly based on Chinese folk stories and mythology.
Each short episode features a unique story, and a unique art style that is utterly stunning.
Four episodes are released so far, with more on their way next week. Watch each new episode as it releases on YOUKU.
The historial martial arts donghua Legend of Xianwu first premiered in 2023 and quickly became a donghua fan favorite.
It tells the story of Ye Chen, a young man who dedicates himself to guarding his sect’s spiritual medicine field. But, during a fight with enemies, the spiritual field is destroyed. Because of this, he is banished from his sect.
However, with the help of a flame falling from heaven, Ye Chen begins to work towards becoming a stronger cultivator.

Fantasy action adventure donghua Apotheosis is also on YOUKU Animation’s Must Watch donghua list for the Spring Festival 2025.
It is one of YOUKU’s most popular animated series due to its high-quality animation, nicely created character designs and in-depth plot.
Two seasons of Apotheosis are currently out and viewable on YOUKU, with Season 2 ending in November, 2024, and a third likely on the way.
It tells the story of Luo Zheng, a young man who used to be the heir of a wealthy family, but who suddenly becomes a slave after another branch of the family takes over.
After finding a mysterious book left to him by his father, however, Luo Zheng begins to concentrate on cultivation and becomes incredibly powerful very quickly.
It is now up to him to save his sister, who has been imprisoned by a powerful sect.
Over Goddess is an ongoing donghua that premiered on YOUKU on October 24th.
It follows an incredibly handsome deity who comes down to Earth to handpick young girls who have the potential to become heroes or deities themselves.
Yes, it’s basically a feature-as many-cute girls-in-every-episode-as-you-can donghua without much of a plot but, with 30 short episodes currently streaming, is still a fun watch.
Its character models too are gorgeous!

New donghua not yet released on YOUKU
As for new donghua coming to YOUKU in the next few months, and also recommended by them, Divine Manifestation has not yet premiered, but is due to hit YOUKU soon.
Wealth and Wonder is also on the platform’s release schedule, along with Threads of Fate: A War Untold, and Veiled Dreams.
There is no word yet on their premiere dates, but we do know they are on their way in the next few months.
