After Season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries, the second season of My Dress-up Darling (aka Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) has to be my most anticipated anime of 2025.
And now, with today’s release of a new My Dress-up Darling, Season 2 OP reveal trailer that, obviously, includes a snippet of the upcoming anime’s opening theme song, my excitement just got ramped up even more.
That OP, by the way, is called ‘Ao to Kirameki‘ (or ‘Blue and Sparkle‘) by Spira Spica — the same pop rock band who performed ‘Sansan Days’ (燦々デイズ, Sansan Deizu) for Season 1 — and it is just as upbeat and fun as you’d expect.
As for the OP reveal trailer itself, it kicks off with Marin naughtily teasing Gojou, because that girl knows exactly how to push his buttons, followed by a few quick flashes of some of what we can expect in the rom-com anime’s next season.

My Dress-up Darling, Season 2 production details
Just like Season 1, Keisuke Shinohara is directing the anime’s second season, with Yoriko Tomita also back in charge of scripts and series composition, and Kazumasa Ishida again designing the characters.
CloverWorks is also back animating the series.
The anime is adapted from the smash-hit manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. So popular has it become, both before and after the first season of My Dress-up Darling premiered, it has now sold over 12 million copies worldwide.
As for its plot, Volume 1 of its original Japanese manga explains it like this:
Beautiful high school girl, Marin Kitagawa, is always at the center of her friends’ circle. Her classmate, Gojou Wakana, thinks she is “a person from another world.”
But one day as Gojou, who aims to become a doll head maker, is working in the clothing practice room after school someone surprising appears… unexpectedly…!?
And now, the two of them have started their exciting cosplay school life!!
Although its been a couple of years since the second season was announced, the anime’s premiere has been taking longer than many of us expected.
