With a slew of new anime being released for the Fall, 2024 anime season this week, it’s also time for a similar slew of creditless opening and ending animations to promote them.
One such release is Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 creditless opening and ending animations, which hit the Aniplex YouTube channel yesterday around the same time the first episode of the anime premiered in Japan.
The anime, of course, has been one of the most long-awaited releases in years, as it follows on from Season 6, which came out seven years ago in 2017 and the Natsume’s Book of Friends: The Waking Rock and the Strange Visitor in 2021.
Yep, it has been a while since we got any new supernatural stories from Takashi Natsume and Nyanko-sensei. So this one is a gratefully-received gift.
Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 creditless opening and ending animations
The Natsume’s Book of Friends, Season 7 creditless opening animation features the anime’s usual sweet art style, as we see Natsume riding his bike around the countryside, interspersed with scenes of other characters.
In contrast, the ending animation comprises an extremely minimalistic but quite lovely style of art, as Natsume, family and spirit friends interact with each other through the different seasons.
The Season 7 theme songs can also be heard throughout each animation — Alca by Hinata Kashiwagi for the OP, and Komari Warai by Toshiki Kondō as the ED.

Season 7 of the anime is still based on the hit manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Midorikawa.
Hideki Ito, the director of the 2018 and 2021 movies, is back directing Season 7, with Takahiro Omori as chief director, and Sadayuki Murai again in charge of series composition.
Akira Takata also returns as character designer.
Studio Shuka is again, thankfully, in charge of anime production.
