Japanese voice actress Natsumi Fujiwara is joining the cast of the ongoing anime The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2 as Kyou, a boy who lives in the Fox Village.
A place where Maomao finds herself after she is abducted by people she thought she could trust.
Her casting was announced today via the official The Apothecary Diaries‘ X account along with a quick snapshot of Kyou with his missing tooth and wide grin.
Natsumi Fujiwara, of course, you will likely know from her voicing of Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen, Sanosuke Sagara in Rurouni Kenshin, and Abigail Jones in Great Pretender.
We will first hear her as Kyou tomorrow, Friday, May 2nd, 2025 when Episode 41 of The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2 anime drops,

The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2 production details
The anime, which is based on the light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino, is one of the most popular animated series out of Japan in the last few years.
Premiering with its first season in October, 2023 and running for 24 episodes through March, 2024, it quickly grabbed millions of anime fans’ attention who all immediately fell in love with protagonists Maomao and Jinshi, and the Tang dynasty-based world they live in.
The anime even earned an 8.87 out of 10 rating on My Anime List, an average from ratings by over 330,000 viewers, and one that is incredibly high from users of that site.
At the moment, it is also ranked #25 on the site’s Top Anime of All-Time chart.
Its second season, which premiered on January 10th, is only slightly behind it with a rating of 8.83 out of 10, and sitting at #30 on the chart.
The Apothecary Diaries is directed by Norihiro Naganuma (The Ancient Magus’ Bride), who also provides the series composition.
Character design is by a team of anime artists, including chief animation director Yuuji Ikeda.
Studios OLM (Dark Gathering) and TOHO Animation Studio (Puniru is a Kawaii Slime) is animating the series.
