New My Wife Has No Emotion trailer shows Takuma and Mina’s deepening relationship

The upcoming sci-fi romance anime My Wife Has No Emotion has a new trailer that gives us a more in-depth look into the relationship between Takuma and his “wife” Mina.

We get to see Takuma slowly falling in love with Mina, while realizing doing that with a robot probably isn’t exactly sane. (yep, Mina is a robotic home help)

We then see Takuma’s sister realizing her brother is in love with an inanimate object.

But, as the anime trailer seems to point out, who are we to judge any relationship as long as the people (or person and microwave, in this case) are happy.

Especially as Mina also sometimes exhibits sparks of some kind of humanity.

The new My Wife Has No Emotion trailer also features the opening and ending theme songs — ‘Okaerinasai‘ by Tokino Sora and ‘Wave‘ sung by Miisha Shimizu.

The My Wife Has No Emotion manga

The upcoming anime is based on the manga of the same name by Jiro Sugiura, which is currently being published by Seven Seas Entertainment.

How much the anime will follow that manga’s plot, however, is yet to be determined as, while the new trailer shows the sweetness of Takuma and Mina’s deepening relationship, as he simply wants someone to emotionally connect with, the manga is something completely different.

It begins with the same sweet romance but, by Volume 4, it has started to go off on a tangent about a terrorist attack, secret plots, Martians and a whole bunch of other weird conspiracy theory-like topics not remotely connected to the original romance.

Events that turned of a pretty big group of readers.

Guess we’ll see how the anime turns out?

Seven Seas, by the way, talks about the manga’s original plot like this:

Takuma is a single guy who does nothing but go to work and come home. Too tired to do chores, he decides to get a robot to cook and keep house. “Mina-chan” is such a good housekeeper, Takuma jokes that she should become his wife.

Mina takes Takuma’s joke seriously, and slowly the two start doing more things together, like having a picnic outside. As time goes by, Takuma starts to fall for Mina, but can a human and a robot ever have an equal, loving relationship?

The My Wife Has No Emotion anime is being directed by Fumihiro Yoshimura (Endo and Kobayashi Live!), with series composition from Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-a-Girlfriend), and character designs from Zejirou Ukulele (chief animation director of Oooku).

Tezuka Productions (The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses) is in charge of anime production.

The anime itself is due to premiere on July 2nd, although no streaming service outside Japan has yet been announced.

Now watch the latest My Wife Has No Emotion trailer below, because at least those scenes are incredibly sweet.
