Sad news out of Singapore today, where Nicole Kidman’s father has died after a suspected heart attack in a hotel restaurant.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, 75-year-old Dr Antony Kidman was in Singapore to visit his youngest daughter,journalist Antonia Kidman, and family.
Arriving on Thursday evening, he had spent the night at the Tanglin Club, worked out early on Friday morning, and then had headed to the club’s restaurant for breakfast. It was there he suffered a suspected heart attack, and attempts to resuscitate him were sadly unsuccessful.
Dr. Kidman was taken to a local Singapore hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after. Nicole Kidman is now said to be en route to Sydney, Australia with her husband country singer Keith Urban to be with family and friends. She is said to be “in shock” at his death.
As for Dr. Kidman’s legacy, he had spent 43 years at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, where he was director of the Royal North Shore Hospital’s Health Psychology Unit. He was also well known on Australian TV where he was often invited as a medical expert on a variety of health-related issues.
