Nintendo Switch Sells More Units Than Any Other System in Company’s History in First Week of Sales

Nintendo was be absolutely ecstatic with the first sales figures for the just released Nintendo Switch. That is because the Nintendo Switch has sold more units than any other system in the company’s history during its first week of sales. That even includes the Wii, which is now Nintendo’s second fastest seller.

Not bad to say there really are not very many games to actually play on the Nintendo Switch right now, although more are being released this month.

Some of the Nintendo Switch’s success also obviously comes from the massive marketing push Nintendo did before the console’s release. Not only did they pay huge amounts of money for a Super Bowl commercial, but they also had a good TV ad campaign (see video below) that showed exactly what the Switch could do, and even managed to choose the right name for this new product.

Whether these amazing sales figures continue for the Nintendo Switch over the next weeks and months, only time will tell. But, at the moment, company execs are probably out celebrating, because first week sales could not have been better.

And, on top of that, there probably should not be any surprise that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the top selling stand-alone launch title in Nintendo’s history as well. Because the popularity of The  Legend of Zelda series shows no signs of slowing down. Even with this 19th game.

Congrats, Nintendo, is all I can say. Because everything I have seen (and played) so far makes it seem like they deserve it.

You can buy the Nintendo Switch on most major gaming sites.
