Two more characters and their voice actors have been added for the upcoming No Longer Allowed in Another World TV anime series and both — being direct opposites of each other  — look more than a little interesting.

The latest illustrations for the No Longer Allowed in Another World isekai anime are Warderia and Isha’s character visuals.

Their voice actors were also introduced, with demon Warderia voiced by the wonderful Aoi Yuuki (Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries), while priestess Isha is played by Mai Nakahara (Lily in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy).

The No Longer Allowed in Another World plot

The isekai anime is based on the popular manga series Isekai Shikkaku written by Hiroshi Noda and drawn by Takuhiro Wakamatsu.

It follows depressed author Osamu Dazai (aka “Sensei”) who, after committing suicide with his lover Shizuko Oota in 1948 Japan, ends up in an isekai fantasy world.

Something he couldn’t be more upset about. Especially as all he really wants to do is die.

The problem is, no matter how hard he tries and no matter who he meets, things in his new world just seem to always turn out alright.

Now all he wants to do is track down his supposedly also-deceased lover who, he believes must have reincarnated too, and then find the best way for both of them to commit suicide. Again.

No Longer Allowed in Another World is based on life of Osamu Dazai

While the comedy fantasy isekai anime is cheerful and upbeat, its story is based on the sad real-life story of Japanese author Osamu Dazai. A man who struggled with depression, and feeling like he didn’t belong, for most of his life.

Dazai attempted suicide several times throughout his adult life, along with double suicides with two different women. One of whom died, while he didn’t.

He was eventually successful with both Dazai and his lover at the time Tomie Yamazaki committing suicide in June, 1948 in a rain-swollen canal.

Their bodies were discovered on what would have been Dazai’s 39th birthday.

It appears then that mangaka Hiroshi Noda and Takuhiro Wakamatsu, likely fans of the prolific author — who is still one of Japan’s most famous writers almost 80 years after his death — preferred to offer Osamu Dazai another chance at life than continue to live a life themselves with him still dead.

But this time in a fantasy world that really isn’t all that bad.

When will the No Longer Allowed in Another World anime premiere?

The No Longer Allowed in Another World anime, which is directed by Shigeki Kawai (Uncle from Another World) and animated by Atelier Pontdarc, is due to premiere in July.

Let’s just hope Atelier Pontdarc does better with this one than they managed with Uncle from Another World, as it took them eight months to release the 13-episode anime series as, with delay after delay, they blamed “Covid” for their shortcomings.

Meanwhile, if you’re interested in the No Longer Allowed in Another World manga, the series is being published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, who currently has five volumes out, with Volume 6 publishing in July.
