Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle anime visual revealed — 25 episode series releasing in October

Phantom Star Online 2, the SEGA MMORPG, is getting an anime. The new anime, called Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle, will have an initial first season of 25 episodes and will be released in October, 2019.

A Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle visual has also been released.

The cast of the anime will include Daisuke Ono, as well as the original cast members from the game:

  • Daisuke Ono as Ash
  • Hiro Shimono as Afin
  • Satomi Satou as Matoi
  • Megumi Ogata as Xion
  • Ryohei Kimura as Zeno
  • Yōko Hikasa as Echo
  • Takahiro Sakurai as Luther
  • Nobuo Tobita as Gettemhart
  • Kana Hanazawa as Melphonshina
Starring Daisuke Ono as Ash

As for the anime staff, they are a pretty heavy-hitting bunch as well:

  • Director: Masaki Tachibana
  • Author: Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
  • Co-authors: Shigeru Morita and Bunsei Asanuma
  • Character Designer: Shinpei Koikawa

The animation itself will be created by Japanese anime studio Gonzo (Blade & Soul, Hinomaru Sumo, Conception), which has finally gotten over its financial problems and, since licensing many of its anime series to the west, has seen their fortunes turn around in the last few years.

The Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle anime series will have an original story and, as far as we know, will not be following on from Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation — the 2015 anime series that was also based on the popular MMORPG.

It will air on Tokyo MX and BS11.

As Crunchyroll aired the first anime series, however, there is probably a pretty good chance we in the west will get to watch the new Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle anime series via Crunchyroll as well.

Fingers crossed!
