Only the Japanese could think about having someone die and be reborn as slime, a spider, or a sword.
Or, in the case of the isekai manga Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon by Hirukuma, Kunieda, and Hagure Yuuki, a vending machine.
And not just any vending machine, but one that is in a dungeon surrounded by frightening monsters.
That stranger than normal manga adapation of a light novel series of the same name is now getting a translation, with Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon, Volume 1 due out in English on May 7th via Yen Press.
They have this to say about the plot:
Cause of death: vending machine.
Is there any end more suitable for a vending-machine enthusiast than giving his life to cushion the fall of one of his favorite machines? So perhaps it was only fate that he was reborn as a vending machine in another world!
Of course, being a vending machine, even when he is reborn, he is stuck in one place.

Until heroine Lammis finds him, decides he might be useful and hoists him on her back so she can carry him around.
Yep, she’s really that strong.
Along with the Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon manga Volume 1 coming out in English in a couple of months, the manga is also getting an anime adaptation, with Crunchyroll having already announced it as part of their Summer 2023 line-up.
You can pre-order Reborn As A Vending Machine, I Now Wander The Dungeon, Volume 1 via Yen Press now.
