Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter’s Allen character video showcases the perfect voice actor

It’s that time of the week again — time for us to check out the latest character information for the upcoming anime Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter.

And, as I expected, it’s now protagonist Allen’s turn. But this time with a new character video.

Allen, of course, is the private tutor Duke Howard hires to teach his daughter, Tina, after it becomes obvious she doesn’t have the magic skills she needs if she wants to be accepted at the Royal Academy.

He’s a talented sorcerer whose ambition in life is to live quietly in the countryside, and be left alone.

The problem is, Allen is also broke, and that necessities him accepting a job. Hence, teaching Tina Howard.

That’s why, in Allen’s character video, we see Allen arriving at Duke Howard’s but soon also realizing, while he would prefer a different life, it could actually be fun teaching Tina. (see Tina’s new character video to see how adorably cute she is and Ellie’s video, who seems to be a bit of a flirt!)

Yuuto Uemura voices Allen

Allen is played by Yuuto Uemura, who is known for playing characters like Light in Shadowverse Flame, Thornfinn in Vinland Saga, Atsushi in Bungou Stray Dogs, and Minato in Tsurune .

Allen’s character video follows on from the character visuals for the anime’s three main girls — Tina Howard, Tina’s friend and maid Ellie, and swordswoman Lydia Leinster. (Update: A visual for Lydia’s sister Lynee has just dropped as well).

Fans love the choice of Yuuto Uemura as the voice of Allen

And, no, I am not surprised many Japanese fans are commenting out how much they approve of the choice of Yuuto Uemura as Allen, as I had the same reaction as soon as I watched Allen’s character video. “He’s perfect”.

One fan had the same reaction, commenting on social media:

The voice really matches Allen’s character perfectly. He’s a great voice actor. As a veteran reader who has been reading since volume 1, I’m really happy to hear this. I’m really looking forward to July!

while another pointed out the voice actor’s voice is perfect for that of a hard-working tutor:

His clear, gentle voice and tone give off an adult vibe, but the innocent expression he sometimes shows, like a child whose mischief has been discovered, makes him seem like a 17-year-old boy, and that is what makes Allen so charming.

The voice of Allen, a teacher who is kind at times but strict at others, is a perfect fit for him, I think.

The Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter premieres in July and, from the character videos we’ve been treated to, it appears it’s not only going to be a fun fantasy anime, but the production committee/director has chosen the perfect voice cast.

Yay!
