Resident Playbook EP7 grabs highest Saturday rating – still performing excellently internationally

While ratings for the ongoing K-drama Resident Playbook don’t look like they will ever be as high as predecessor Hospital Playlist, which headed into the teens early in its season (both seasons) and never fell out of them, Resident Playbook is earning steady ratings.

So much so, Resident Playbook, Episode 7 earned its highest Saturday night nationwide rating last night, grabbing 5.3 percent of the audience share.

That is a nice increase from its previous Saturday high of 4.82 percent, which it earned last week for Episode 5.

Meanwhile, in Seoul, the medical-themed tvN drama garnered a higher 5.97 percent, which was only slightly lower than its current Saturday high of 6.06 percent for Episode 5.

So, yep, not world-shattering numbers, but not bad either, eh?

Resident Playbook‘s international ratings

Meanwhile, the Korean drama did hit the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart last week grabbing the #6 spot on the chart — and one of six K-dramas to hit the Top 10.

With five episodes still left to air, the K-drama is also earning a very solid 8.4 out of 10 over on My Drama List (MDL).

Considering anything above an 8.1 or so on MDL means users are generally extremely happy with an Asian drama, that’s a great sign for the rest of its 12-episode run as well.

With around 400 people rating Resident Playbook on IMDB, however, things are not going as well as the series is only earning a 7.4 out of 10.

As there seems to be little oversight on the site, however, which means groups of trolls can come in and downrate anything without being stopped (look at the still-abysmal ratings for King the Land two years after trolls decimated it and IMDB refused to fix it), IMDB ratings overall tend to be unreliable at best.

Resident Playbook stars the excellent main cast of Go Youn Jung, Shin Si Ah, Han Ye Ji, Kang You Seok, and Jung Joon Won — three of whom also hit the Top 25 on the Actor Brand Reputation Rankings for April last week.

The next episode of Resident Playbook hits tvN in South Korea tonight, along with Netfix internationally.

Update, May 5th, 2025The Korean drama performed even better on Sunday night in South Korea, grabbing its best ratings yet in both regions.
