The ongoing Korean drama Romance in the House climbed to #6 on the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart last week just two days after it premiered on the platform.
This week, with just four episodes now out, Romance in the House has climbed from #6 to the #1 spot, kicking last week’s #1, Season 8 of the Spanish teen drama Elite, down to #4.
According to Netflix’s Tudum platform, Romance in the House made it to #1 on Netflix for the period August 12th to August 18th after being watched 2.6 million times for a total of 9.7 million hours viewed.
The Korean rom-com drama was also in the Top 10 in 37 countries, including almost all of Asia and the Americas, in Romania in Europe and in Nigeria in Africa.
Meanwhile, back home in South Korea, the drama also saw its fourth episode grab the its highest rating yet last Sunday.
What is Romance in the House about?
Romance in the House stars Ji Jin Hee, Kim Ji Soo, Son Na Eun and Choi Min Ho.
The Korean drama follows a divorced mother and her two adult children who have spent the last year believing the childrens’ father, who was a constant failure in every business venture he attempted, had died in a traffic accident.
But, after holding a memorial ceremony for the man, he suddenly reappears in their life.
Not only not remotely dead, but also now a multi-millionaire who has just bought the apartment building they live in.
Romance in the House airs on JTBC in South Korea on Saturday and Sunday evenings, with Netflix streaming new episodes soon after they air.
