If you were like many people, including me, you probably thought the famous John Lewis Christmas advert was a bit lame this year. Seeing as how it’s not a tear-jerker at all.
But, no worries, Sainsbury’s has picked up where John Lewis left off last year, releasing their sentimental Christmas advert 2016 last night to just about universal acclaim. In fact, I’d have to say it’s one of the best Christmas adverts I’ve seen in the last few years.
Because the Sainsbury’s Christmas advert 2016, ‘The Greatest Gift‘ is a gorgeous stop-frame animation affair directed by the award-winning Sam Fell. And it tells the story of Dave, who is desperate to be away from work and home with his family for Christmas, so he comes up with a brilliant plan to make sure he can.
Watch the Sainsbury’s Christmas advert 2016 below. The song ‘The Greatest Gift for Christmas is Me‘ is an original written especially for the advert, and is sung by the massively popular The Late Late Show host James Corden. Lovely.
