SHY Season 1 recap video released – which is great if you speak Japanese

SHY, Season 1 recap video released without English subtitles

A recap video for Season 1 of the super power anime SHY has just been released in anticipation of its second season, which premieres on July 2nd.

The almost-2-minute SHY recap video reminds viewers what happened in the anime’s first season, while fueling anticipation for its second, and reminding us why we liked the 8bit anime so much in the first place (cute girls, for one!)

Unfortunately, like much of what comes out of Japan, it doesn’t include English subtitles.

Something that always bemuses me when many of the Korean studios/production companies can release their trailers targeting the international market with English subtitles, yet the Japanese still seem to find it so difficult.

In the age of fast and pretty accurate AI-translation (not counting YouTube’s auto-generated translation, which is garbage), it is even more frustrating.

SHY, Season 2 staff

Like the first season of the exceptionally cute and fun super hero anime, SHY, Season 2 — aka Shy: Tokyo Dakkan-hen —  is based on the hit manga series by Bukimi Miki.

That manga is currently being published in English by Yen Press, with Volume 7 on its way in July.

Also like Season 1, the anime is being directed by Masaomi Ando (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun), with Yuuichi Tanaka (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) back in charge of character design.

Watch the just-released SHY, Season 1 recap video below. I’m just sorry the production committee couldn’t be bothered to help you understand it.
