Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle visual is cute, Princess Syalis is adorable

The minute I knew Doga Kobo was animating the upcoming new anime Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, I already had it on my list to watch.

Let’s face it, when it comes to anime with lolis or Cute Girls Doing Cute Things series, Doga Kobo (Gabriel DropOut, Three Leaves, Three Colors, Wataten, An Angel Flew Down To Me and their latest Asteroid in Love)  is one of the best studios there is.

Then today, when the animation studio released the first Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle key visual, I was all in.

After all, look how utterly adorably cute Princess Syalis looks in that new visual. Aren’t you as desperate to see a full anime with her in it too?

Along with the Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle key visual, Doga Kobo also announced the wonderful Inori Minase will be the actress providing the voice for Princess Syalis.

As Minase voiced one of my favorite anime characters in the last couple of years — Hestia from Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? — what a perfect match of voice and visual this looks like it will be.

The cover of the first book in the manga series

The upcoming Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle anime is based on the manga series by Kagiji Kumanomata.

That manga series is described like this:

She decides to while away the hours by sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy Demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wind.

The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess.

Things go from bad to worse—for her captors—when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely—if temporary—demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading…

In other words, Syalis sounds like a bit of a handful, doesn’t she?

Mitsue Yamazaki (Hakkenden -Eight Dogs of the East and How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift?) is directing the series.  Yoshiko Nakamura (Tada Never Falls in Love) will be in charge of series composition. Character design is by Ai Kikuchi (New Game!).

The anime series is due to be released some time in 2020, but there is no word yet as to exactly when that will be.

We will keep you posted as more details emerge, because this one looks adorable.
