Stalker 2 in development, but not releasing until 2021 or is it?

Is STALKER 2 releasing in 2021 or not?

Don’t get too excited just yet. Because, even though Ukrainian game developer GSC Game World has just announced the survival horror game STALKER 2 is currently in development, it is not going to mean much to you. Not for a while at least.

That is because the developer is intimating the release date for the open-world game will not be until sometime in 2021. Yep, almost a three-year wait before you can get your sweaty gamer paws on STALKER 2 it seems.

There is also a distinct possibility that STALKER 2 release date will not happen then either. Especially if you are one of those that remember we have been at this point before.

Back in 2010, when the developer announced STALKER 2 was in development and that it would be built on a new engine. Fast forward a year or so later, however, and the studio itself closed down. Taking any chance of us ever seeing STALKER 2 with it.

Of course, since then, the developer has reopened and has successfully released the real-time strategy game Cossaks 3. So, there is always hope and, who knows, hope may come even sooner than we expect.

After all, if you look at the graphic GSC Game World has released on the upcoming game’s website today, who knows if that 2.0.2.1. graphic actually means STALKER 2 will be released in 2021, or something else entirely?

It could just mean the game is set in 2021.

Come on. Give me a break. I’m eternally optimistic and hopeful when it comes to my favorite games.

Until we know more, though, here’s a bit of a refresher course for your memory as to just why the original game, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, was so universally loved. Watch the video below. Ahhhhhh….now that takes me back.
