Steve Earle and the Dukes were on David Letterman on Monday night (Feb. 23), where they sang ‘You’re The Best Lover That I Ever Had“. It was one of many such performances on Letterman for Steve Earle and his band although, of course, now that Letterman is stepping down it will be the last.
‘You’re The Best Lover That I’ve Ever Had‘ is a single from Earle’s latest album ‘Terraplane‘, a real Texas blues album, and is one of the most fun little numbers he’s released in a while.
As for ‘Terraplane‘, it’s getting decent reviews since it’s release on February 13th. As it should as, although it’s quite a bit more mellow than some of Earle’s earlier work, it’s still a damned nice album to listen to.
Watch Steve Earle and the Dukes playing ‘You’re The Best Lover That I’ve Ever Had‘ live on Letterman, then if you like what you hear pick up ‘Terraplane‘ on most major digital music sites.
Edited: Sadly, all of Letterman’s videos have been removed from YouTube since his show closed down, including that fabulous Steve Earle and the Dukes performance. That is why I’m substituting a live performance they did of the song at the Newton Theater instead.
