The filming period was pretty long for a Chinese drama, as it began on October 23rd, 2024, and just wrapped up today — seven months later.

Don’t get too excited yet, though, as now the C-drama goes into post-production, with the drama itself not likely to hit before some time in early to mid-2026.

The Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3: To Chang’an wrap ceremony photos were released via iQIYI’s Weibo account.

The third season of the hit supernatural mystery drama again features the same main and supporting cast as its first two seasons — Yang Xu Wen, Yang Zhi Gang, Gao Si Wen, Chen Chuang, Sun Xue Ning, Yue Li Na, Liu Zhi Yang and Shi Yue An Xin.

It is also again being directed by Bai Shan, and with original creator Wei Feng Hua writing the scripts.

As for its plot, viewers of the first two seasons will remember we left protagonists Lu Ling Feng and Su Wu Ming, and their four helpers at the end of Season 1 leaving the west, and heading back towards Chang’an.

Once there, they will have to deal with the psychopathic princess (Lu Ling Feng’s mother) and the equally untrustworthy new emperor — once a supporter of Lu Ling Feng, or so he thought, and now hoping to kill him. Quickly.

Its official plot synopsis looks like this:

The story is set in Chang’an during the early golden age of the Tang Dynasty, where various factions treat the capital as a “chessboard.”

The “Tang Mystery” team, led by Lu Ling Feng and Su W Ming, find themselves—willingly or unwillingly—drawn into the game, stirring the tides of power under the calculated maneuvers of the Emperor and the Princess.

In a Chang’an where “poetic beauty and peril co-exist,” they once again uphold justice and integrity, unraveling supernatural mysteries to expose the hidden schemes and dark secrets lurking within human hearts.

Like its first two seasons, Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3: To Chang’an will also be an iQIYI exclusive.

They dropped its first trailer earlier this month as well and, yep, it looks as epic as its first two.

And I am especially interested to see how Season 3 kicks off as, while Season 1 was superb, Season 2 was a cut above even its first season, due to its script and because the five main actors really worked well together as a team.

In fact, my only complaint about the entire second season was, when Lu Ling Feng’s apprentice, Xue Huan (nicely played by Shi Yue An Xin), returned, he turned out to be a bit of an arrogant a-hole.

Hopefully, that will be toned down for Season 3 as, previous to leaving for training, he was just a nice, sweet kid.

Enjoy the new Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3: To Chang’an wrap ceremony photos, and we will be back to update you as soon as more visuals or premiere information is released.

The first two seasons of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty are streaming via iQIYI.
