Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld English dub releases in limited territories only

The good news?

The Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld English dub is releasing this week — on Sunday, to be specific.

The English dub of the popular anime will be available on Crunchyroll beginning at 5:00am Pacific Time.

The bad news?

In typical Crunchyroll manner, the Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld English dub will only be available in limited territories.

Namely, in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

These countries won’t be able to watch the Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld English dub on Crunchryoll

That eliminates about two dozen English-speaking countries in Africa immediately, as well as English-speaking countries like India, the Bahamas, Barbados and Singapore.

It also means, anyone living in other countries with English as an official language are out of luck when it comes to watching the Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld English dub online.

As are people who are native English speakers like me, but living in a country where English isn’t one of the official languages.

Boo!

Unfortunately, this is all about licensing, and the amount a company like Crunchyroll has to pay for licenses for each country an anime streams in.

Wouldn’t it be nice, though, to just have one worldwide license — so that an anime can be watched by anyone who is interested in watching it?

We can only dream, eh?
