Tales of Herding Gods not ending with Episode 26 this year
The official Weibo account for the Chinese donghua Tales of Herding Gods has announced, instead of the initial 26 episodes that were scheduled to air for a “Season 1”, we will now be getting “A year-long non-stop adventure!”.
Hell, I’m on board for that, aren’t you?
According to their comments about the much extended schedule, the newest episodes will begin hitting soon:
#Shepherd Animation# – A Year-Long Nonstop Adventure!
The Great Ruins hide countless spirits, while divine ships from ancient murals emerge one after another. Watch Qin Mu, aided by the Disabled Elders, slash through darkness and forge his legendary rise!
Starting April 20th, every Sunday at 11:00 AM (Beijing Time) on Bilibili, the mysteries of the Great Ruins unfold—stay tuned!
Yep, Episode 27 is due to premiere in China on April 20th — in other words, there will be no break as Episode 26, the supposed end of Season 1, is due to release this coming Sunday (April 13th) followed by Episode 27 the following week.
Along with the announcement of a much extended schedule, we also got a dramatic new visual featuring Qin Mu’er and one of the grandpas overshadowed by an horrifically dangerous monster.
Release details for Tales of Herding Gods donghua adaptation
Tales of Herding Gods (aka Mushen Ji) is beautifully animated by Sparkly Key Animation, and produced by Bilibili.
The Chinese anime began streaming on October 27th, 2024, and quickly grabbed donghua fans’ attention, both in China and worldwide, due to its stunning art style, superbly smooth animation, unusual characters and interesting plot.
A plot that, by the way, is based on the long-running and very popular xuanhuan novel by Chinese author Zhai Zhu (宅猪).
A novel that, with almost 1,750 chapters published so far and, no, it still has not been completed, means its donghua adaptation could easily run for much longer than a year. (We can only hope!)
As for the currently ongoing episodes, for international viewers, Tales of Herding Gods, Episode 25 is due to release on Bilibili’s YouTube channel tomorrow for that platform’s subscribers, while Episode 24 will premiere on the same platform for non-subscribers.
