If you want a dream English dub cast for an anime, you don’t have to look much further than the new Studio Ghibli movie The Boy and the Heron.

The Boy and the Heron‘s English dub cast has just been released and features luminaries like Willem Dafoe, Mark Hamill, Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, and Robert Pattinson.

Add in Florence Pugh and Karen Fukuhara, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better cast.

What is The Boy and the Heron?

The film is the latest Hayao Miyazaki written and directed project, and is based on the novel by Genzaburō Yoshino.

The fantasy film tells the story of 12-year-old Mahito Maki, a boy whose mother has been killed in a fire during the last half of the Second World War.

After his father marries his mother’s younger sister, they all move to a new town where Mahito struggles to fit in.

It is then that he keeps seeing a grey heron, which soon leads him to a mysterious tower in the woods that, once he enters, takes him to an alternate world full of magic.

The film itself is a lovely coming-of-age story filled with magic and wonder, the likes of which only Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki can tell.

As for that superb The Boy and the Heron English dub cast, Luca Padovan plays Mahito, Robert Pattinson is the Grey Heron, Christian Bale voices Shoichi Maki, Gemma Chan plays Natsuko, Karen Fukuhara is Lady Himi, Florence Pugh is Kiriko, Dave Bautista is The Parakeet King, Willem Dafoe is the Noble Pelican and Mark Hamill plays Granduncle.

With special advance screenings on November 22nd, The Boy and the Heron will release in North American theaters and on IMAX on December 8th.
