A new character video for The Elusive Samurai‘s Shizuku has been released showing the young retainer and steward showing loyalty to Tokiyuki Houjou.
The Shizuku character video also features the anime’s gorgeous signature art style and superb animation.
Shizuku, voiced by Hinaki Yano, is one of The Elusive Warriors of the anime series alongside Kojiro, Ayako and their master Tokiyuki.
A trailer for Genba Kazama was also previously released, showing that thief’s confident demeanor.
The Elusive Samurai anime series
The anime series is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui.
It is being published in English via VIZ Media, with 11 volumes already out and Volume 12 due to be published in August.
VIZ describes its plot like this:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province.
The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan.
But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
The Elusive Samurai anime is directed by Yuta Yamazaki (Love Kome: We Love Rice), with Yoriko Tomita (Senpai is an Otokonoko) in charge of series composition and scripts, and Yasushi Nishiya (Ni No Kuni) designing the characters.
CloverWorks (who did a stellar job animating Wind Breaker) is in charge of anime production, which is why this one, so far, is superb in both art style and animation.
The anime is streaming now via Crunchyroll as part of that platform’s Summer, 2024 line-up.
