The Haunted Palace EP2 still most-watched miniseries on Saturday with slight ratings drop

Just as many Korean dramas before it saw a slight ratings drop for their second episode, SBS drama The Haunted Palace, Episode 2 also experienced a ratings drop on Saturday night.

With that being said, however, the nationwide rating for The Haunted Palace, Episode 2 was still very strong — 8.3 percent of the viewership compared to Episode 1’s rating of 9.1 percent.

Ratings that meant the supernatural historical K-drama was still being the most-watched mini-series for all of Saturday.

The Korean drama’s audience share in Seoul was also just as strong — 8.4 percent compared 9.2 percent for its series premiere on Friday night.

I hated The Haunted Palace, Episode 1 and then, a few minutes before the end, Holy Sheeyut, I didn’t

When you also consider 20 minutes of the first episode of the new JTBC drama Heavenly Ever After overlapped The Haunted Palace’s running time, that it served up such solid ratings says a lot about the SBS drama’s staying power, doesn’t it?

The Haunted Palace and its international viewers

While only 18 people are rating The Haunted Palace on IMDB so far, their ratings are currently averaging 9.1 out of 10 stars — which is a very high result from users of that site.

The same goes for users/subscribers of the streaming service Viki, who are rating the drama even higher today compared to after its first episode aired — 9.7 out of 10 versus the 9.6 from Saturday.

Comments about the drama and the main actors are overwhelmingly upbeat, ranging from:

Intriguing storytelling, with both fun and emotionally touching moments. And (episode 1 spoiler) really enjoying the concept of two “first loves” chasing the same woman but doing so… as a single entity?!? Love can be so confusing!

Acting, directing, writing, design, graphics… fun watch all the way around

Such a promising beginning, many talented actors and intriguing story, love this show so far.

The Haunted Palace stars male lead Yook Sung Jae, who is doing a spectacular job in his dual role, alongside female lead Bona, whose acting skills have markedly improved in the last couple of years.

The K-drama’s next episode airs/streams on Friday, April 25th.

I have a feeling we will see its ratings head back up again then, don’t you?

Update: Stills out for The Haunted Palace, Episode 3 as Yook Sung Jae and Bona confront the Eight-feet Spirit
