The upcoming Universal Pictures film The House with a Clock in Its Walls has a new trailer released today.
The movie, starring Jack Black, Kyle MacLachlan, Cate Blanchett and Owen Vaccaro, tells the story of Lewis Barnavelt, a newly orphaned 10-year-old boy who accidentally wakes up the dead after going to live with his warlock uncle in a house that ticks like a clock.
From the looks of the trailer, the new family-friendly thriller seems to be in the vein of Harry Potter or A Series of Unfortunate Events. In other words, in a world that is old-fashioned, quite gothic and very very weird.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls is directed by Eli Roth, and is based on the 1973 children’s book of the same name. The book was written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey.
And if you are one of the millions of fans of the popular fantasy TV series Supernatural, you may just love this film as it was written by that show’s creator Eric Kripke.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls will be in movie theaters from September 21st. Watch the new trailer for the film below if you do not mind half of the plot being revealed.
