The ongoing tvN drama The Queen Who Crowns, Episode 6 aired last night to the same solid ratings it has been receiving since it premiered on January 6th.
Nielsen Korea is reporting The Queen Who Crowns, Episode 6 rating was 5.20 percent — a slight increase of .20 percent since its previous episode aired, and a nice jump from its lowest rating of 4.87 percent garnered for Episode 1.
Viewers in Seoul also gave the K-drama 5.0 percent — the same solid rating as Episode 5, although slightly lower than the 5.13 percent it earned for its first episode.
International ratings for The Queen Who Crowns
Sadly, due to a sizable number of immature people using the Asian drama-focused website My Drama List and being allowed to give ridiculously low ratings by the site’s administration, the average rating for The Queen Who Crowns on that site is much lower than on other similar sites. (An undeserved 7.7 out of 10).
That is likely due to some people not likely the behavior of King Tae Jong (masterfully played by Lee Hyun Wook), and so downrating the Korean drama because of it. (You can’t fix idiotic. Don’t even try).
Or because the drama features several sex scenes, and they are “offended” by them.
It is also why I always recommend never to watch/not watch a drama based on what users of My Drama List say, as that site’s ratings (high or low) are often extremely biased.
So much so, a drama will even by rated by groups of people not even watching it, but either not liking a particularly actor or reading something about the show that “offends” them, and so rate bombing it.
The same applies to IMDB, which allows users to rate bomb a drama as low as 1 out of 10 if something in it “offends” them.
Over there, of course, The Queen Who Crowns is earning an even lower 7.5 out of 10. From just 16 people, I might add.
No, IMDB ratings are generally not reliable either.
On Viki, however, where The Queen Who Crowns is streaming and where it is being rated by people actually watching the Korean drama (Viki are much better at removing obvious troll ratings than other sites), it is earning superb ratings of 9.7 out of 10.
Well-deserved for this beautifully written, exceptionally well-acted, and, let’s face it, quite crazy Korean drama series.
The Queen Who Crowns stars Cha Joo Young, Lee Hyun Wook, Lee Sung Min, Lee Yi Dam, and Lee Shi Ah.
With The Queen Who Crowns now heading into its second half, its next episode is due to air on January 27th.
Let’s see how the ratings in South Korea stack up then, eh?
