The Story Between a Dumb Prefect and a High School Girl with an Inappropriate Skirt Length manga gets anime adaptation

The long-running manga The Story Between a Dumb Prefect and a High School Girl with an Inappropriate Skirt Length (aka Ponkotsu Fūkiin to Skirt Take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi or simply PonSuka) has just announced it is getting an anime adaptation.

Along with that announcement, the new anime also launched its official website, and released a cute celebration visual featuring protagonists straight-laced Tougo Sakuradaimon and annoying high-school girl Poemu Kohinata.

The adaptation of the school-themed popular rom-com manga series is being animated by Zero-G (The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague).

According to the anime’s official website, direction will be by Daiji Iwanaga (director of The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window), with You Himuro (Episode Animation Director for Delicious in Dungeon) designing the characters.

Celebratory visual for the PonSuka anime adaptation

What is the plot of PonSuka?

The anime is based on the hit manga series written and illustrated by Takuma Yokota (Destroy All Humans. They Can’t Be Regenerated).

As of today, when Volume 17 was published in Japan, the manga series currently has 17 volume out in Japanese, with no word yet as to an English translation.

The manga’s Japanese publisher explains its cute-sounding plot like this:

Meet the overly “serious” discipline committee member, SSakuradaimon-kun. His daily duty as gate monitor is to check students’ uniforms.

The one he always scolds is the “problem child” Kohinata-san—a girl with bright-colored hair and a miniskirt. Though she finds the strict Sakuradōmon annoying, she soon discovers that he’s actually a total klutz…!?

A hilarious short romantic comedy featuring a capable heroine constantly dragged into chaos by the eccentric members of an over-the-top “committee”!

There is no word yet on when the anime adaptation will hit but, as this one looks like a lot of fun, it’s already on my Plan to Watch list on My Anime List. How about you?
