I’m not a gigantic Marvel fan, so would never really buy a Marvel game. That being said, though, I do like to see what type of games Marvel is licensing as, after all, they are one of the biggest media franchises in the world, and a huge influence on pop culture.
That’s why I knew, when Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was released yesterday, I might not be buying the game, but I sure as heck wanted to know what it looked like and how it played.
Enter one of my favorite YouTube walkthrough gamers Shirrako, as he can be pretty much guaranteed to have a full Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 walkthrough up the day the game released. Sure enough, he did.
Shirrako’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order walkthrough was played on live stream, so it is the real deal. It is also played with no commentary, in 1080p 60fps HD, and shows all cutscenes, boss fights, side missions and upgrades.
He also plays it with his usual highly competent gameplay, so you don’t get frustrated watching him like you sometimes do with other YouTube gamers.
Is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order a good game?
As for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order game itself, it’s a pretty fun hack-and-slash action-RPG.
Sure, it’s not overly difficult, and you can finish it in about 10-15 hours, so it’s not a long game.
But it has a plethora of interesting and extremely diverse characters, the combat is fast-paced and cool, there is plenty of customization to be had, and it shows a lot of the much-loved Marvel universe.
It has decent replayability value though, if you want your money’s worth.
From watching Shirrako’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order walkthrough, there are also some drawbacks.
Boss fights are simple and a trifle boring, load times can be a bit long, and the story is unimpressive. The voice acting is also a bit hit or miss. Some actors do a brilliant job, while a couple are utterly unbelievable. The sound mixing in parts of the game is spotty.
And, if you hate a game where leveling up and character progression is a struggle, this one can be a bit of a slog.
The game is also embedded in the Marvel universe (obviously!) so, if you’re not a huge Marvel fan, you will likely miss a lot of the treats.
All in all, though, it is a fun game to watch, and I’m sure it’s just as much fun to play.
If you are still on the fence about buying it, check out the first video in Shirrako’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order walkthrough below. You can watch the rest of his walkthrough, including the final boss fight and a secret scene, in his playlist for the game.
If you’re already sold, it is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, so you know where to buy it.
