Tom Clancy’s The Division MMOTPS: Another Bioterror Attack? Sigh

Well, Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 yesterday gave us a nice surprise, as they ended it with an announcement of a new game – Tom Clancy’s The Division, an MMOTPS with an apocalypse theme. Hmmmm. Not exactly unique or ground-breaking is it?

Developed by Ubisoft Massive, Tom Clancy’s The Division will take place in New York City (why do they always take place there?) after a pandemic let loose by terrorists wipes out half the population. Yep, you guessed it. Another bioterror attack. Sigh.

You have to wonder, is it too much to ask to actually be able to play a game that doesn’t include elements that have been done a hundred times already? Let’s face it, Ubisoft may be one of the top developers and publishers and do create great games, but they’re not always so good when it comes to a unique story in their Tom Clancy games.I wonder why that is?

Tom Clancy’s The Division will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation4. When? We don’t know. They didn’t say. But basically all you need to know is it involves bioterror, massive civilian casualties, civil unrest and lots and lots of shooting.

Meanwhile, if you are interested in yet another apocalypse game where you’re in a deserted New York City (did I yawn yet?), watch the Tom Clancy’s The Division gameplay video below.

Unless it’s a whole lot better and more unique than it sounds and looks in the video, I’ll pass. How about you?
