There’s a brilliant new drama series coming to the BBC from the makers of the massively successful police procedural drama Line of Duty.
Called Bodyguard, the BBC One series stars Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Sophie Rundle, Gina McKee, Vincent Franklin and Stuart Bowman, and is written by Jed Mercurio.
Bodyguard is a six-episode mini series which follows war veteran and Specialist Protection Officer David Budd (Richard Madden), who works for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch (RaSP) of the London Metropolitan Police Force.
Budd is assigned to protect Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), a woman whose beliefs he disagrees with in just about every possible way.
The question then is, can he do his job and prevent Montague from being harmed, or will he turn out to be her biggest threat?
BBC One released a teaser trailer a few weeks ago, but today we got the full Bodyguard trailer. It shows the animosity between the two, as well as a hint of the danger the Home Secretary will soon find herself in.
It being the BBC, there is no word yet on when Bodyguard will begin to air, but sometime in 2018 seems to be likely.
If you are not in the UK, you can, of course, VPN in via a UK IP once Bodyguard begins to air, and watch the show on the BBC iPlayer. Chances are it will probably eventually end up on Netflix as well, as it definitely looks like their thing.
