Now that the last episode of season nine has aired (last night, with ), two Doctor Who Christmas special 2015 trailers just hit the Internet. And, can I say, I’m so freaking excited, as it looks like they’ve decided to go back to the fun adventure romp we were so used to on Christmas Day before they went all serious and horror-y.
In the trailers, we get to see River Song (Alex Kingston) back again (yay!), although well, we would, as the Doctor Who Christmas special 2015 is actually called ‘The Husbands of River Song‘.
And, according to the BBC, the synopsis of the much-awaited Christmas special goes something like this:
“It’s Christmas Day on a remote human colony and the Doctor is hiding from carols and comedy antlers. But when the Time Lord’s help is requested he finds himself recruited into River Song’s squad and hurled into a fast and frantic chase across the galaxy! King Hydroflax (Greg Davies) is furious and his giant robot bodyguard is out-of-control and coming for them all! Will Nardole (Matt Lucas) survive? And when will River work out who the Doctor is?
All will be revealed on a starliner full of galactic super-villains and at a destination the Doctor has been avoiding for a very long time…”
For we avid Doctor Who fans what that means is it is the first time River has met the Doctor’s latest incarnation, played by the fabulous Peter Capaldi, and the first time we’ve seen River Song since she was a ghost in “The Name of the Doctor“.
To find out what happens, we’ll have to wait until Christmas Day when the Doctor Who Christmas special 2015 will air on BBC One.
