Country music singer songwriter Dwight Yoakam appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night, where he performed his blue grass version of his song ‘Gone’ (That’ll Be Me)‘.
The track is from Yoakam’s new studio album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars — a set of re-imagined songs from his entire album collection. It originally appeared on his Gone album back in 1995.
Dwight Yoakam’s latest album is the 60-year-old’s 15th studio album, and his 26th album overall (28th if you count his two international releases). Astounding really.
As for ‘Gone (That’ll Be Mine)‘, this new version is pretty darned awesome. What with its mandolin and fiddle solos, and Yoakam on his acoustic guitar playing along, it really is bluegrass at its very best.
