English singer songwriter Sam Fender had his American late night TV debut last night when he performed his latest single ‘The Borders‘ on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
The North Shields native is in the United States promoting his debut studio album Hypersonic Missiles.
The album was released on September 13th and is not only critically acclaimed, but also hit the number 1 spot on both the UK Albums chart and the Scottish Albums chart.
Hypersonic Missiles has also spawned a massive seven singles.
The best song on the album, however, is Sam Fender’ ‘The Borders’ and that is what the English singer performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
It is also apparently his favorite song from the album.
As for Fender, he started out as an actor but soon moved onto creating music instead. Because, as he told Billboard:
“I prefer music because you have more control over it and I’m a bit of a control freak. With acting, unless you wrote the script, you are portraying someone else’s vision. You are given a script. With music, you get to write the script.”
Since moving seriously into music, Fender has already played support for Bob Dylan and Neil Young, toured the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands and, earlier this year, won the Critics’ Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards beating out Mahalia and Lewis Capaldi for that honor.
