The first ‘Stan & Ollie‘ trailer was released today by BBC Films.

The movie starring John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan, and directed by Jon S. Baird, tells the story of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

Two of the most iconic movie comedians ever to have graced the silver screen, but two comedians that did still struggle throughout much of their careers when it came to being in work.

Stan & Ollie‘ tells the story of one of these struggles. When Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy began a tour around post-war Britain in an attempt to revive their flagging careers.

The movie also stars Shirley Henderson, Danny Houston, Nina Arianda, Rufus Jones and Susy Kane, and was filmed throughout the United Kingdom.

Watch the ‘Stan & Ollie‘ trailer below and, as you will see, it has been filmed only the way the British can.

With superb attention to authentic historical detail, and with emotional performances by both John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan that are so close to Stan and Ollie themselves that, after a few minutes watching this film, I am guessing it will be hard to tell them apart.

Stan & Ollie‘ will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on the 21st October. No word yet on its actual release date, but it is expected to release before the end of the year. Just in time for the Academy Award nominations.

The Captain Marvel (2019) trailer stars Brie Larson as the female superhero — but is she as cool as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman?
