The new BBC One drama adaptation of John Le Carré ‘s book ‘The Little Drummer Girl‘ premieres on BBC One on October 28th, and it looks incredibly exciting.
The series was directed by South Korean film and TV director Park Chan-wook (The Handmaiden), and stars Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Shannon, Clare Holman, Charles Dance, Max Irons and Kate Sumpter. It is Park’s TV debut.
The Little Drummer Girl is set in the 1970s, and follows Charlie Ross (Pugh), an actress on holiday in Greece. While there, she meets a man (Skarsgard) and is offered what he calls ‘an acting role in the theater of the real’.
Before long, Charlie is embroiled in a plot involving an Israeli spymaster and in fear for her life.
The series is expected to do as well as the acclaimed and BAFTA winning The Night Manager, which was also produced by the same people.
