Watch The London New Year Fireworks 2016 — Spectacular Music and Pyrotechnics

The London New Year Fireworks 2016 erupted a few hours ago as January 1st arrived and, as usual, they were spectacular. In fact, having watched fireworks in countries over half the planet, I still have to say the London New Year Fireworks are the best.

As Big Ben struck one, and the goosebumps started, the London Fireworks began to explode out from the London Eye and out over the Thames Embankment. Barges parked on the river picked up the energy, catapulting thousands of aerial fireworks up into the night sky creating a cacophony of sound and light.

As for the London Fireworks tracklist, this year’s theme was a mix of classic pop and rock, electro, and hip hop music including tracks from Bastille (Pompeii), David Bowie (Rebel Rebel), Cilla Black (‘Something Tells Me Something’s Going To Happen‘), Apollo 440 (Stop The Rock), Silentó (Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), One Direction (Live While We’re Youngand Chase and Status (Blind Faith).

The massive finale

Then there was the clever use of the London Underground’s iconic ‘Mind The Gap’ announcement echoing out over the Thames as there was a tiny break in the explosions.

Then right back to even more adrenaline inducing explosions to the sounds of Michael Jackson’s ‘Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough‘ followed by almost-precision timed explosions to the famous beats of INXS’ ‘Need You Tonight’ and into The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.

And, as every year, the London New Year’s Eve Fireworks ended with a massive finale that saw London, for just a few seconds, illuminated in more light than dark.

If you love spectacular fireworks, and especially on New Year’s Eve, they don’t get much better than London’s. Watch below.
