Weathering With You‘s English-subbed trailer is lovely

Makoto Shinkai’s anime film Weathering With You is already one of Japan’s most successful movies of the year, with box office receipts by mid-September at 12.72 billion yen, or around $118 million.

This week, Weathering With You began to gear up for its U.S. debut in January with the release of an English-subbed trailer.

A touching trailer that is likely to get American anime fans even more excited for its 2020 release.

Japan also has high hopes for Weathering With You beyond its box office receipts in the U.S. The film is the country’s official submission for consideration for the Academy Award for Best International Film.

Fingers crossed this beautiful gem of a film will get it.

Weathering With You is being released in the U.S. in select theaters on January 17th, 2020 under license from American film distributor GKIDS.
