Crunchyroll has just announced the upcoming comedy isekai anime No Longer Allowed in Another World will be streaming on their platform.
They have also announced a definite July, 2024 premiere, with the anime streaming during the Summer, 2024 anime season.
No Longer Allowed in Another World will be available on the platform in the following territories: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS
It is also one of the 2024 anime I am the most interested in, as it features an intriguing real-life person transposed into an anime character to tell a “wouldn’t it have been wonderful if” narrative.
That character, of course, is Japanese author Osamu Dazai, who actually did commit suicide along with his lover Tomie Yamazaki way back in 1948. (That’s the scene you see at the beginning of the anime trailer below)
And yes, wouldn’t it be wonderful if he didn’t actually die, but ended up in an alternate world instead like the premise of the Atelier PontDarc anime series?
Crunchyroll, by the way, has this to say about the plot:
Pulled into an otherworldly adventure with cute sidekicks and superpowers, you’d think Osamu hit the jackpot. Nope! From a time before pixels, the early 20th-century gloomy author just wants to find a quiet place to meet his maker, not to rack up XP.
Sadly, his poetic demise is constantly thwarted by inconvenient heroics. Dive into the hilariously tragic life of the most reluctant hero!
Watch the recently released No Longer Allowed in Another World trailer, and do yourself a favor and add it to your My Anime List ‘Plan to Watch’ list as this one looks interestingly unique.
Especially as your typical isekai anime series goes.
